Bomboniere or Italian Favours as they are often known, can be traced back to the early days of European history where they were given to celebrate weddings, birthdays and christenings amongst wealthy aristocrats. In their earliest form they were made of gold, precious stones, crystal or porcelain. Almonds were given at weddings to wish the couple health, wealth, happiness, long life and fertility.
Today bomboniere are given to guests as a "Thank you", a token memento of your wedding day. They also make beautiful table decorations.
